When you hear the term “interactive content marketing” what comes to your mind?
a) The use of polls in your content
b) The use of quizzes in your content
c) The use of white papers and infographics
d) All of the above
If you chose d, you are absolutely correct. But, if you chose a, b, c, or d, you’re right, too! After all, we did ask you what comes to your mind!
As you can see, interactive content marketing is a way to engage your customers by producing content that allows them to actually do something. If you’re not yet using this type of content marketing, then it’s time to jump on the bandwagon.
Why It’s Good to Try
Interactive content marketing may not be for everyone. But, if you can swing it, then it’s worth giving it a try. Most people like to do something active and engaging, even if it’s just with their mouse or touch screen. Best of all, we know it works. According to The Content Marketing Institute, 81% of marketers say that interactive content marketing just does better than static marketing. So, it definitely doesn’t hurt to give it a whirl. As always, you should analyze your content and see how did it compared to other types of (non-interactive) content.
Are These Appealing or WHAT?
Take a look at these stunning interactive content examples:
A quiz from Orbitz, to tell you whether or not you have the best travel partner there is.
An interactive map of London by ION Interactive, for geeks who want to do some very specific exploring.
And, another quiz on Love the Backcountry, to figure out what kind of car camping type is right for you.
These are just a few examples of interactive content marketing. Are you hooked already? That’s because that’s the goal of interactive marketing! As opposed to just reading an article about a certain topic, customers get instantly engaged and involved. This leads them to not only spend more time on your site but also be inclined to take action and opt-in.
If you know they signed up after participating in one of your pieces of interactive content, just make sure you give them more of what they want in the future (or in their inbox!).
Other Examples of Interactive Content Marketing
When it comes to interactive content marketing, there really are no rules. The only thing you have to remember is that it has to be something that engages your visitors and gets them to do something. And, you don’t need to necessarily trash all your past content. In fact, you can re-purpose old text content and make it interactive!
In addition to quizzes, surveys, and the other easy stuff, other aspects of interactive content marketing may not be as simple to execute. Therefore, you may need to hire to creative person or team that can help you try the harder things, like infographics, white pages, playbooks, calculators, and eBooks. If you’re not ready to make that kind of commitment, there are a lot of tools out there that can help you create interactive content.
What’s in it for Me?
Well, ladies and gents, while interactive content is great for your site visitors, there’s also a lot in store for you as well. Did you know that interactive content means you can stop producing less content altogether? Many companies strive to be content producing machines, and it’s not really the answer. Using interactive content marketing as a means to make less, yet more meaningful content, really makes a difference.
Additionally, producing interactive content means your company will have a better chance of bringing in leads. If you’ve been seeing a decline in your lead generation, or you simply aren’t seeing any positive results with your current content, then making some changes will certainly help.
