Bulk Email Marketing…How Will It Affect Your Business?

There are multiple marketing strategies today. People are becoming increasingly more creative in advertising with the addition of recent technologies. Helping people to become aware of a new product or service in the market has now become much easier because of the internet.

The invention of the internet or the World Wide Web has brought about success for any kind of business in today’s market. It provides faster communication with people around the globe. It allows sharing of ideas, concepts, etc with other people a lot faster and better.

One way to communicate over the internet is thru email. You can send just about anything thru email today. Organizations and businesses utilize this tool to promote their products to a vast number of people.

That is how the concept of bulk email marketing started. Bulk email marketing can be defined in two ways. Many people refer to it as a way of – mass marketing, direct marketing, or opt-in list – of a product or service to more than one individual simultaneously via their email addresses.

However, a lot of people refer to this kind of marketing technique as SPAM when receiving these marketing and advertising emails. SPAM has become a universal term that refers to any unwanted, unproductive or unethical activity over the internet. For bulk email marketing, SPAM refers to unsolicited junk email.

Commercial emails benefit both the consumer and business. However, today this is being abused by many companies. A vast number of commercial emails are being tagged as SPAM, even if they contain legitimate information.

This is why bulk email marketing can be dangerous for your business. If a single email from your company is labeled as SPAM, it may cause your company’s email addresses to be blocked by the email service providers such as AOL, YAHOO and MSN. Your site can be blocked, also by the search engines, and may be kicked off your hosting service provider.

Getting rid of SPAM emails and sites is what ISPs, hosts and search engines strive for. People that are considered spammers cause annoyance to their customers and a big waste of bandwidth. This is why they take action when a high number of customers complain.

It is best to think twice before sending email advertisements to many people. You may be able to buy email addresses from companies claiming that people opted-in will receive your messages and they offer a big conversion rate. The companies may just be scamming you to make money.

You should use many ways to send advertisements or promote your products even though it is possible with bulk email marketing, by sending email advertisements to your existing customer base instead of unknown people.

You can create an email that looks like a follow up, then add your advertisement for the new product that they may also be interested in. Then ask for some referrals from them of people who may also be interested in your product. Doing this will make your advertising more legitimate. If someone accuses you of sending spam email, you can show them otherwise by showing proof of relationship with the customer, such as a receipt of purchase or an email from them.

If you are just starting your business and have no existing client base yet, you need to advertise first using other methods than bulk email, so that your business will not be put at risk.

There are many ways to promote a product or service over the internet by being creative and imaginative. Marketing and advertising are critical factors to your business’ success. Make sure it is done in a nice and professional manner so your commercial email won’t be tagged as spam.
